The Nigeria Employers’ Consultative Association (NECA), unveiled an on-line platform, NECApreneur project, for the training of youths on entrepreneurial skills to check unemployment.
Director-General of NECA, Olusegun Oshinowo, who spoke about the project at a forum in Lagos, said that it was targeted at undergraduates and unemployed youths. He said, unemployment is the biggest issue in the nation’s economy, adding that government alone cannot solve the problem.
In view of that, NECA was collaborating with some groups, to provide mentorship, capital and structure for those who would participate in the NECAprenuer project.
He explained that there is need for a new approach to solve unemployment, adding that, youths must embrace entrepreneurship.
The NECA DG also said that the more people were gainfully employed, the more purchasing power would grow and businesses flourished.
He, however, said that government must create enabling environment for businesses to thrive.
According to him, unemployment is important to employers who know that if not handled properly, can pose security risk.
