In an effort to broaden its scope, the West African Examinations Council International Office (WIO) in Lagos, says it is set to re-introduce electronic marking for its tests.
Head of the Office, Adelowo Maliki, made this known in an interview with newsmen, in Lagos, saying, the marking before now was done with some foreign partners based in the United Kingdom. But said, they are now, set to bring it back as they have gotten all necessary approvals from the council’s committee meetings and the council itself.
This, Maliki added, led to the body trying to develop its own in-house style, assuring that the ongoing West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) for private candidates would be marked electronically.
He however, said that not all the subjects will be marked using this mode, just some selected ones. Maliki noted that, such mode of marking would further ensure test realiability.
