The Ministry of Defence has denied an online report alleging fraud in the award and execution of a contract involving relocation and refurbishment of the Nigerian Army Level-2 Hospital, in Mali.
A statement on Thursday from the spokesman of the Minister of Defence, Colonel Tukur Gusau refuted the report indicting the Ministry over the hospital contract under the United Nations Multidimensional Integrated Stabilisation Mission in Mali.
He dismissed the report which also alleged that a Nigerian Army General has been detained and is being prosecuted over the matter.
The report claimed that 1.4 million dollars for the contract was shared without the job being executed.
The Ministry of Defence it was alleged awarded the contract for the refurbishing and relocation of the hospital to a contractor who had no experience in the installation of the Level-2 hospital.
